Perhaps you may have a nose with a large hump or a tip that is too wide or boxy. Perhaps your nose is not straight or the tip droops down. These and other concerns are treated with a Rhinoplasty (nose job) which is usually performed with scars hidden inside the nose.
The nose is made up of two parts: the cartilage and the bone. If it is only the tip that is of concern then you may only need a tip Rhinoplasty. This involves the reduction of the tip cartilage. Since there is no need to change the bone, there is little-to-no bruising and only mild tenderness. You could be back to work with your new nose in a few days.
If you have a nasal hump then the bone will be treated as well. Although there will be more swelling and bruising when the bone is treated there is still little pain involved. You may have black eyes that may last ten days or so.

Rhinophyma (WC Fields Nose)
You might be embarrassed by a thickening of the skin on your nose.
Your nose may be as large as WC Fields or larger. You will be happy to know that it is not related to drinking or anything else that you are doing. The tendency to rhinophyma is considered to be inherited. Once the skin becomes thickened the only treatment is thinning of the skin. This is done with a special instrument that removes the skin in thin layers. The area is then smoothed out using the Carbon Dioxide Laser. Dr. Viggiano is the only doctor in the area who owns the type of laser that is so useful in this type of reconstruction. Healing occurs over 10 to 14 days. Although neither the procedure, which is done under minimal sedation, nor the healing are painful, the nose has an open wound during the healing process.
Rhinophyma is a chronic thickening of the nose due to a low-grade infection of the sebaceous glands of your nasal skin. Often rhinophyma is associated with acne rosacea (a form of adult acne). If this is the case, the skin of your nose (and usually the cheeks) remains red and may be prone to pimples.
There is no medication that is effective in decreasing the rhinophymatous growth of the nasal skin. Fortunately there is a procedure in which the skin can be thinned. Removal of the offending thickened skin can improve breathing as well as improve one’s appearance.
Often surgical planning for rhinophyma, as it is called, is insurance covered. This is particularly true if the individual has chronic pustules or the nasal airway is obstructed due to the thickened skin.
