Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasy

You may be bothered by loose or sagging skin that creates folds and hides the natural contour of your upper eyelid. This excess skin may hang down so much that it can even obstruct your vision. If the upper eyelid skin is resting on the upper eyelid lashes, then it is likely that your vision is obstructed. Although most upper eyelid surgery is performed for cosmetic reasons, insurance will cover the cost of the procedure if your vision is obstructed. A simple vision test using an array of lights can determine whether your vision is obstructed enough for the upper eyelid surgery to be medically necessary.

Tina is a 61 year old who did not like the folds of skin of her upper eyelids. She was also aware that the left upper eyelid was lower than the right. Removing the excess skin and lifting her left upper eyelid to match the height of the right improved her appearance.

Kevin is a 57 year old who has had sagging of his left eyelid. He wishes to have the lid lifted so that he can see better and so that his lids look more symmetric. He was understandably pleased with the surgery to lift his lid. You will notice that no skin was removed from his left upper lid.

The upper eyelid scar is in the fold of upper eyelid skin and is usually minimal if not invisible. After your upper eyelid skin removal your eyes will appear more open and you will look more alert and rested.
