Liposuction in Port St. Lucie FL

You may have areas of fat that do not respond well to exercise or diet.

We have all seen it: you can gain or lose weight but you still have your “problem spot.” You gain or lose weight in your own pattern, a pattern that you cannot change. You could even be too thin and still have your hated bulge. Well, no longer. Although you may not be able to spot reduce, spot reduction is precisely what Liposuction is for. That problem spot will no longer be a problem.

Liposuction reduces the areas of fullness to improve the balance of your body and improve your self image. It is not a weight loss procedure but is only used to reduce localized bulges of fat. In this way, liposuction is complimentary to weight control. After liposuction your overall shape is changed. Even if you gain weight, the fat distributes evenly and does not “go to your problem spot” first. Controlling your weight will control how much fat you have. Liposuction controls where that fat is stored.

Abdominal Liposuction

Some of your “spare tire” may be made up of excess fat around your intestines and thus beneath the abdominal muscles. This fat cannot be removed by liposuction but may be reduced by general weight loss. If, however, your abdominal fullness is mostly or solely caused by fat above the abdominal muscles then it can be removed by abdominal liposuction. You can tell where the excess fat is by pinching the skin. You will be able to pinch the skin and superficial fat. You cannot pinch the fat beneath the abdominal muscles. The goal for abdominal liposuction is to reduce the fat above the abdominal muscles to about an inch or less in the pinch test.

If your abdominal skin is only slightly sagging, then abdominal liposuction alone may be all you need since liposuction can tighten the skin somewhat.  In this case, the incision is much smaller and the recovery much less.

Ankle Liposuction

Ankle liposuction is a comparatively rare liposuction procedure as many people do not opt for it. The reasons behind choosing this liposuction can be medical or cosmetic. Medical reasons for ankle liposuction arise when a person is afflicted by “cankles”. What happens here is that the point where the ankle joins the calf muscles appears unnaturally large or there is little to no definition between the calf and ankle areas. The legs of these patients lack the inverted bottle neck appearance of attractive legs. This can derive from excess weight or heredity. It is a very uncomfortable situation and can cause problems for the patient.

Arm Lift

You may have wings of skin and fat below your upper arms. If this is the case, you may be a candidate for an arm lift. If there is good skin tone all you may need is liposuction since liposuction can contract the skin to some extent (see Abdominal Liposuction). If you have too much extra skin for liposuction alone then some skin can be removed.Since the scars from arm lifts are not trivial, it is important to keep the scar as short as possible so that it is not visible beyond a short sleeve shirt. This may not always be possible. It is better to have a small amount of loose skin at the elbow which can be normal than to have a scar that is visible and brings unwanted attention to your arms.

Facial Liposuction

Like many cosmetic procedures, facial liposuction can help you regain your confidence and self-esteem. Facial liposuction can drastically reduce areas of localized facial fat. The typical areas that are treated well with facial liposuction are the nasolabial folds (the folds that go from the corners of your nose to the corners of your mouth), the jowls, and the neck. These are essentially no-scar procedures with minimal down time. Improvements last a lifetime.

Flank (Back) Liposuction

Flank, or back, liposuction may be what you are looking for if you are troubled by localized excess flank (“love handles”) or back (“back rolls”) fat. Your excess flank fat may fold over your jeans and slacks causing an unsightly bulge (“muffin tops”). Excess fat in these areas can be difficult to lose with exercise. Even with weight loss these areas are programmed to return quickly with weight gain. Flank or back liposuction is very effective in this situation. With liposuction, your excess fat cells are reduced drastically and are unlikely to return. If you gain weight, you will gain it in your new shape without the excess located in the back or flanks.

Thigh Liposuction

You may have struggled with diet and exercise and still have disproportioned fat deposits in your thighs and hips. Liposuction can help you in this situation. Once your excess localized fat is removed, your shape is drastically changed. You might gain weight, but you would do so in your new shape. Thigh liposuction may be what you are looking for if you are troubled by localized excess fat on your inner, outer, or anterior thighs.
